Sport & Active Schools
We hold the record for most West Cumann na mBunscol Football Titles. We have also won the County Primary Football Competition twice. We also have numerous West Hurling Titles.
As part of the PE curriculum, we provide our pupils with exposure to a range of activities. These include gymnastics, athletics, swimming, badminton, basketball, dodgeball and rounders to name a few. We are lucky to have an indoor Sports Hall so we can take part in Physical Activity all year round.

High Fly Learning in 6th class
6th Class took to the skies this week — quite literally! As part of their local
geography studies, pupils explored Newcastle West from above using drone
technology.
The children identified key local landmarks from a bird’s eye view, giving them a
fresh perspective on how our school and town look from above.
This was a hands-on learning experience that combined geography, technology,
and creativity encouraging 6 class to see and think about their local environment
in new and exciting ways.
