“Wonder Wander Walking Trail in Newcastle West”
Third Class at Courtenay National School participated in a Zoom meeting on Thursday, October 10th, with Limerick County Council to collaborate on designing a walking trail in Newcastle West.
Following the meeting, the children, alongside their parents and teachers, brainstormed potential buildings and features to be included in the trail. Each boy selected a building or landmark feature in the town they felt should be featured, resulting in a lively discussion and some fantastic sketches.
Last Wednesday, Third Class made history by becoming the first class from Courtenay N.S. to appear on RTÉ’s News2day. They proudly showcased their incredible sketches, proposing key buildings and features for the “Wonder Wander Walking Trail” project in partnership with Limerick County Council.
The boys are very excited to be part of this community initiative. The “Wonder Wander Walking Trail” is set to launch at Newcastle West Library in the spring. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting project—and keep an eye out for some future architects from Courtenay National School!
